OurNaija is a game. This page explains how it relates to the real Lagos, real people, real organisations and real money.
A work of fiction
OurNaija is a fictional simulation for entertainment. Its world, events, economy and stories are invented, simplified or exaggerated for play. Nothing in it is news, advice or a description of how things really work.
Real places
The game takes inspiration from real Lagos places and street names, but they’re changed for gameplay. Don’t use the game as a map, guide or source of facts about any place.
People and characters
Characters, officials, police officers, landlords and other non-player people in OurNaija are fictional. Any resemblance to a real person, living or dead, is a coincidence. Other players are real people playing a game; what their characters do in the game isn’t a statement about anyone in real life.
Government, elections and politics
The President, elections, treasury, policies, police and courts in OurNaija are game systems. They aren’t affiliated with, endorsed by or meant to represent any real government, agency, political party or office-holder, and the game isn’t a platform for real-world campaigning. Symbols in the game are fictional or generic, not official seals.
Businesses and brands
Shops, banks, restaurants, transport firms and the adverts on billboards in OurNaija are fictional, unless clearly labelled as a paid advert from a real business. A business appearing in the game, or something happening to it in the game, says nothing about any real company.
Game money is not real money
V₦ has no real-world value. It can’t be withdrawn, exchanged or used outside OurNaija. Wages, rent, prices, taxes, robbery, deposits and investments in the game are mechanics, not financial, legal, employment or investment advice, and they don’t predict anything in real life. Nothing in the game encourages real-world crime, gambling or risky money practices.
Jobs, crime and the law
Jobs in the game aren’t real job offers. Crime, police, arrest, bail and eviction are simplified game rules, not legal guidance.
Accuracy
We try to keep the game’s information correct, but we don’t promise it’s complete, current or accurate, and the game may change at any time.
Rights and concerns
The game’s original content belongs to OurNaija. If you believe something in OurNaija uses your name, brand or other rights unfairly, email [email protected] with the details and we’ll look into it promptly.
